Key Educational Factors
Key educational factors for education of children with medical needs
A review of the literature on key factors in education and in educational psychology was conducted and its Kkey Educational Ffactor (KEF) were outlined and organised into a limited number of categories. Subsequently, these factors were compared with existing literature on the education of children with a medical condition. The KEF were presented and discussed at the Hospital Organisation of Pedagogies in Europe conference in Bucarest in 2014.

Quality of student experience scale
The Quality of Student Experience Scale is based upon previous instruments and has three main dimensions:
1. Maintaining: refers to how the Home and Hospital Education (HHE) helps students maintain pre-illness skills/activities.
2. Improving: refers to how HHE helps students improve and grow in their learning, despite their medical conditions.
3. Overall: refers to the overall perception of the student of his/her school experience
The international network for the Home and Hospital Education through ICT
Obwohl Bildung der wichtigste Faktor in der Vorbeugung und Behandlung psychosozialer Auswirkungen durch Krankheit bei Kindern und jungen Erwachsenen ist, werden Schüler mit gesundheitlichen Problemen immer noch zu wenig in das schulische Lernen einbezogen. Die schlechteren Lernleistungen führen häufig auch zu sozialen Schwierigkeiten.
Der beste Weg um gute Bildung für längerfristig kranke Kinder zu ermöglichen, ist es die Aufmerksamkeit in Regel- und Förderschulen auf dieses Problem zu lenken. Denn Regel- und Förderschulen können nicht nur den Lernstoff vermitteln, sondern auch die soziale Entwicklung fördern.
Schüler, die längerfristig krank sind und deshalb längere Zeit im Krankenhaus oder zu Hause bleiben müssen, werden mit Isolation, mangelnder Motivation und Rückzug aus dem Lerngeschehen konfrontiert. Oftmals können sie keine Regelschule besuchen, da sie entweder zu krank oder durch ihre Therapie verhindert sind.
In diesem Kontext können digitale Hilfsmittel eine wichtige unterstützende Rolle spielen. So kann -mithilfe der Unterstützung durch Internet und Computer- die Kommunikation verbessert und somit die Teilnahme am Schulunterricht in der Regelschule ermöglicht werden.
Die Ziele des Projekts sind:
- Schlüssel-Bildungs-Faktoren („key educational factors“) und gute Praxisbeispiele im Kontext Bildung und Fürsorge für Schüler mit medizinischen Bedürfnissen herauszuarbeiten.
- Computer-basierte Lösungen finden, die es Kindern, die in Krankenhäusern liegen, die zu Hause therapiert werden oder die die Schule nur in Teilzeit besuchen, ermöglichen eine geeignete Schulbildung zu erhalten.
- Herauszufinden wie Bildung durch Technologie und Lehrmethoden im Kontext von „Home and Hospital Education” (HHE) beeinflusst werden.
Darüber hinaus können die im Kontext HHE entwickelten Initiativen, die auf ein Bildungsextrem zugeschnitten sind, in Regelschulen angewendet werden.
Zu den Kern-Partnern zählen erfahrene Experten aus dem Bereich des Krankenhaus- und Schulunterrichts, sowie das Netzwerk EDEN mit seinen 200 Mitgliedern. Außerdem wird eng mit den über 20 assoziierten Partnern, die von weiterführenden Schulen, öffentlichen Bildungseinrichtungen und anderen HHE-betreffenden Netzwerken kommen, zusammengearbeitet. Gemeinsam erstellen die Partner einen Rahmen, damit computer-basierte Lösungen und Tools für Schüler mit gesundheitlichen Problemen weiter verbreitet werden.
